My name is Tim Ojo. I’m a software developer in Chattanooga, TN interested in web services, service oriented architecture, user interface design, cloud computing, big data analytics and software architecture. But that’s not all; if its interesting, I like to read about it.
I’m a regular guy with a wife and a son and a job I love. I don’t think there is anything particularly extraordinary about me. But I’m determined to change that. I attended DevLink 2014 in Chattanooga, TN and was at Cory House’s Outlier Developer speech. Cory really inspired me with his personal testimony almost as much as with his speech. One of the things that really struck me about Cory is how much he changed his life and career in response to wise counsel that he heard or encountered. It stood out to me because I thought to myself, how many people hear the same advice but do nothing about it. Cory’s story also encouraged me because he emphasized that he is an ordinary developer like myself who has achieved what he’s been able to achieve by simply making the effort. So this is me; an ordinary developer that’s making an effort to contribute to the practice of software development and the creation of better solutions.
On this blog I intend to write articles about stuff I learn about as I continue my career; on both the soft skills and hard skills side. Some prime candidates are Websphere Message Broker development, Java Server Faces 2.0, JAX-WS, software architecture, etc.
One of the things that strikes me as a software developer and an aspiring software architect is the breadth of technical knowledge that is needed to be kept abreast of. Unfortunately there are only 24 hours in a day and we need to sleep for at least 6 of those hours; therefore time is at a premium. I have enough experience starting to read an article and realizing that although its packed with a lot of information, its also too long, so I throw it into my Pocket (formerly Read It Later) list, intending to read it when I have some time but I never get around to it. That’s why posts on this blog will be kept fairly short and direct in order to benefit both myself (who is taking time to write the articles) and you the reader (who is taking time to read the articles).
